What to See and Do in Glasgow With an EV From EVision

Clyde Arc at night

Glasgow is a wonderful city in Scotland that is often overlooked for the capital city, Edinburgh. However, if you fancy a Glaswegian adventure, you won’t be disappointed.

EVision has opened a new collection point in Glasgow and to celebrate, we are going to take you on a tour of some of the best places to visit north of the border. Whether it’s something educational, stunning scenery, historical significance or somewhere to shop, eat and play, then we have great recommendations for you.

Riverside Museum of Transport and Travel

Let’s start this tour of Scotland’s “Dear Green Place” with the incredible Riverside Museum of Transport and Travel. This is a free museum in Glasgow on the River Clyde with more than 3,000 exhibits on display. You really can see a very big range of transport and travel displays, from prams and skateboards all the way to classic police cars and locomotives.

Take your electric vehicle to this museum and then fill your car with items from the many shops on the cobblestone streets that date back to the 19th Century. Whether you are young or old, there is something for everyone here.

The Glasgow Science Centre

Another great place to visit with your EV in Glasgow is the Science Centre. Once again there is something here for people of all ages. Explore the planetarium, see the Question Your Perception area filled with interactive displays, get hands-on in the BodyWorks exhibit and much, much more.

The Glasgow Science Centre is a really fun place to visit for all the family, and is one that we highly recommend. What’s more, there are electric vehicle charge points available in the car park. These use the Scottish Power Recharge app.

Pollok Country Park

If outdoor walks and clean air is more your thing, then the Pollok Country Park in Glasgow is a great place to go to. This is the only country park in Glasgow and it is absolutely beautiful. Not only is it a great place to walk, you may also be able to see some of Scotland’s wonderful wildlife in all its glory.

Visit Pollok Country Park in your EV and you can recharge your vehicle at one of three locations. Electric vehicle charging is available at The Burrell Collection car park, The Riverside car park at Pollok House or at Nether Pollok Pavilion.

Glasgow Botanic Gardens

This is a fascinating place to visit with a long, rich history. Founded in 1817, the Glasgow Botanic Gardens has a wide range of plants, flowers and trees from all around the world.

Whether you want to explore the site at your own leisure, follow the tree trail or whether you would like to have a guided tour of the gardens from an expert, the choice is yours. The Botanic Gardens are a true botanist’s paradise.

The University of Glasgow Tour

Although St Andrew’s University is possibly the most famous educational institution in Scotland, the University of Glasgow is actually the 4th oldest university in the United Kingdom. With more than 550 years of history and architecture, there is obviously a lot to see here. Tours can be arranged for individuals or for larger groups and you get an expert to take you through the centuries of wonderment.

Also available to see on the University of Glasgow campus are the Hunterian Museum, the Hunterian Art Gallery, the Mackintosh House and Zoology Museum. Many interests are covered by the glorious historical collections available.

XSite and Braehead Shopping Centre

Venture into the Braehead area of Glasgow and you will find somewhere you can shop, eat and have lots of fun playing. Plus, while you are doing all of these things, you can charge your electric vehicle at the Braehead Shopping Centre car park.

Starting off with the shopping element, you are spoilt for choice with the wide range of shopping options available. Not only in the Braehead Shopping Centre, but also in and around the XSite area.

There are choices galore to satisfy the hungry. Whether you are after something quick or if you want a sit down restaurant, there is something to quench your desire.

A lot of people visit the XSite area for the wide range of fun activities available. You can take in a film at the large cinema complex, play ten pin bowling, try your hand and test your nerves at the climbing centre, hone your laser shooting skills at the laser station, play crazy golf and much, much more. You can tire out the whole family with a trip here.
