It has been thought that Christmas 2020 could be up to 50% busier due to changes in shopping habits, compared to recent years. Most people start their Christmas shopping in November, especially the OAPs who prefer to escape the mad December rush.
However millions of home-bound customers have turned to e-commerce for Christmas shopping this year, meaning more deliveries which in turn has meant more transportation has been required.
Now as the UK returns to Tiers 1, 2 and 3 respective of area, we expect having been cooped up for so long, the UK public to hit those shops like never before.

Royal Mail has revealed that they will be hiring the record number of Christmas temps to deal with the high influx of orders. Other major companies such as UPS and Amazon, are also under pressure to get orders out on time and before Christmas.
As shops have now been allowed to open as of 2nd December, this may relieve couriers of a few deliveries. However the predicted amount of parcels will still be too much for some companies.
