Model Y UK deliveries postponed – Rent a Tesla from EVision

Rent a Tesla

Due to the current coronavirus pandemic, Tesla has been forced to halt production of their highly anticipated Tesla Model Y. The pure electric sport utility vehicle (SUV) is modelled and styled similar to the Tesla Model 3. Obviously, there is a height difference between the two as the Model 3 is a compact electric sedan. Whilst the production of the Model Y has been suspended, why not rent a Tesla from EVision

How long will production be stopped for?

The Tesla Model Y is being produced in the same facilities as the Model 3; Fremont, California. However, as governments across the world commence imposing lockdowns and restrictions, Tesla have been forced into a three-week lockdown.

This unforeseeable setback will certainly take its toll on leading EV manufacturer Tesla, given its plans to scale the production of the Model Y. Co-founder of Tesla, Elon Musk has remained keen to continue manufacturing. However, local authorities are keen to restrict activity to only what is essential.

Similarly, Volkswagen has announced that they will be postponing manufacture in a number of locations across Europe. The German company has listed that production in Spain, Portugal and Slovakia will halt. It will also reduce work in its Italian factories. Other manufacturers to also suspend production include, Toyota, BMW, Honda and Nissan.

Only time will tell how much this delay will impact deliveries of the Tesla Model Y. Having said that, Tesla did commence deliveries of the Model Y last week to the US market. Deliveries for the UK were rumoured for late 2020, however, this may now be moved to 2021.

A brief recap of the Tesla Model Y

The Model Y is the second all-electric SUV from Tesla after the Model X. Tesla’s Model Y is available in two variants, the Performance and Long Range all-wheel drive (AWD). Both options come with the ability to seat up to 7 adults.

The Performance variant can accelerate from 0-60mph in 3.5 seconds. Whilst the Long Range option will achieve 0-60 in 4.8 seconds. The Long Range has an estimated Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP)of 314 miles on a single charge. While the Performance variant can achieve up to 298 emission-free miles.

Tesla All-Wheel Drive has two ultra-responsive, independent electric motors that digitally control torque to the front and rear wheels. Meaning that the luxury SUV is perfectly capable of driving in rain, snow, mud and off-road. Like every Tesla, Model Y is designed for safety. The low center of gravity, rigid body structure and large crumple zones provide unparalleled protection, should something unfortunate happen.

The interior is nearly identical to the Model 3 with its simplistic approach. The infotainment system is built of a 15-inch touch screen and an immersive sound system. Elevated seating position and low dash, offers the driver a commanding view of the road ahead.

Waiting for delivery? Rent a Tesla from EVision

If you are waiting for delivery of your Model Y in the UK and are stuck without an EV, then EVision can help. We have a vast variety of pure electric vehicles available to hire whilst you’re waiting.

Tesla Model X

Looking to rent a Tesla SUV? Our Tesla Model X is the most similar SUV available from EVision. The dimensions are comparable with the Model Y being slightly smaller than the X. Our Model X’s also have air suspension, so the height can vary by approximately two inches. So all we can say is that the two cars are pretty comparable in height. The interior is not too dissimilar either. Inside the Model X, you are greeted with a 17” infotainment touchscreen, which is larger than the Y’s 15” screen. Due to the larger SUV size the X can also seat 7 easily just like the Y.

Not to forget to mention but the Tesla Model X also comes with a HEPA air filtration system. During this difficult time this may be very useful for some. The filter helps prevent pollution, bacteria and offensive odors from entering the cabin. More about this can be found in our latest blog post

Here at EVision we have the following variants of the Tesla Model X; X 75D, X 90D, X 100D. Talking driving range the X 100D is the most comparable to the Model Y with 300 miles on a single charge. The 0-60 acceleration rate is also the same as the Model Y Long Range at 4.8 seconds.

Tesla Model 3

If you are looking to rent a Tesla that looks like the Model Y but isn’t an SUV, then our Model 3 is for you. As mentioned above the Model 3 is a sedan therefore it is smaller in dimensions than the Y. The Model 3 is like the well loved younger brother whilst the Model Y is the stronger older brother. These vehicles have a natural family resemblance which we assume will be replicated through future Teslas. The exterior and interior are almost identical in style and layout.

Inside the Model 3, is an identical 15” landscape touchscreen, just like the Model Y. The forward-designed instrument panel provides even more legroom in the front. Meaning that the passenger cabin is more spacious and comfortable.

Here at EVision we offer both the Standard Range Plus and Long Range options of the Tesla Model 3. As expected the Long Range offers more mile range than the Standard. Our Tesla Model 3 Long Range offers 320 miles of range. This is comparable to the Model Y Long Range at 314 miles (WLTP).
