Competition in the world of EVs is getting stronger and harder by the day, for automotive manufacturers to create something new. We all know of the big EV giant Tesla, if not then you surely know of the genius named Elon Musk. We are great fans of them both, but let’s not forget about the other equally impressive electric vehicles such as, the luxury Jaguar I-Pace and Audi e-tron.
A* for Audi
The Audi e-tron offers nothing but A* worthy style, performance and safety.
We mention safety as the Audi e-tron has recently become the first all-electric vehicle to earn the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS) top safety rating.
Even though this EV is the first electric car manufactured by Audi, it keeps in line with their classic and timeless aesthetic. Aerodynamic efficiency is increased through the bold octagonal grille to direct air better around the vehicle whilst in motion. This enhancement gives the Audi its dramatic appearance; flowing contours, LED matrix headlights and all-wheel-drive together better the driving experience.
The performance of the e-tron is impressive with a driving range of 249* miles, a 0-60 mph rate of 5.7 seconds and a maximum speed of 124mph. This SUV is perfect for both the family and your love of gadgets and gizmos. Recharging this EV on the road is no problem either, as where available, the Audi can be ‘refuelled’ at 150kW charge points charging the battery to 80% within 30 minutes and 100% within 50 minutes.
The interior of the e-tron is uncluttered and modern increasing the cabin’s space. You’ll find hidden storage spaces everywhere; the centre console, storage nets behind the driver and in the boot as well as deep storage bins in the car doors. When talking about the interior, it is hard to forget the typical forefront of technology that EVs have, and the Audi is no exception. A B&O surround system will make sure that your music will be played with clear and crisp definition whether it is heavy metal or classical, we don’t pass judgement here.
The Audi also comes with a generous 12.3-inch and 8.6-inch digital display, presenting Audi’s configurable virtual cockpit, this will also show you the charge of the EV and also how much range you have left, which is handy. The centre console also has Audi’s latest MMI entertainment system. The driver will have a variety of apps such as Apple carplay ™, Android auto ™, radio, telephone and Satellite navigation.
Seats are obviously an important part of the whole driving experience, otherwise you would be making a reenactment of the Flintstones. The Audi offers both heated and electrically adjustable driver and passenger seats. They are also 4-way adjustably supported, so that you can choose how far away you sit from the steering wheel. The overall view from the driving seat is improved and increased as the e-tron sits higher than other EVs.
Not just a Jaguar
The Jaguar I-Pace is yet another powerful EV that we have here at EVision. The I-Pace is a four-wheel-drive powered by two motors, working to deliver an impressive range of 292* miles. With a top top speed of 124mph and a 0-60mph rate of 4.5 seconds, the I-Pace comes out slightly higher than the Audi e-tron.The Jaguar also comes with some amazing features to increase and maximise the driving range such as, adjustable suspension and regenerative braking.
It’s not only the performance features that have been designed to optimise the vehicle, but the exterior is too! The bonnet, rear and door handles have all been designed specifically to slice cleanly through the air to further optimise the range and stability.
At the front of the car, the bonnet scoops to reduce the drag whilst in motion. This channels air through it via the grille and out, passing over the curved roofline. The rear diffuser then aids this as it helps smooth the airflow from underneath the vehicle.
One thing these two EVs have in common is their clean and uncluttered interiors, that integrate technology effortlessly. With a centre floating console, underarm rest cubby bin, cup holders and phone holder the Jaguar has an abundance of space to store any of your valuables. All of this is benefited from the architecture of the EV. The front sport style seats are positioned further forward than normal to maximise the space where the engine would typically be.
The I-Pace comes with two touchscreens; the 10-inch infotainment system and a 5-inch touch screen with multi-function dials. You can connect your mobile device to the Jaguar via Bluetooth, as well as link the system to your online streaming accounts such as Deezer and Spotify. For any of you music lovers out there or secret ravers, this EV also comes with a Meridian sound system, providing you with more clarity than standard car speakers. Along with all of this the lower and smaller 5-inch screen controls the climate of the vehicle, allowing you to adjust the airflow and turn on the heated seats and set whether you require just one to be heated or both.
Similar to the Audi the Jaguar I-Pace isn’t short of an award or two either. The I-Pace has won European Car of the year 2019, 2019 World Car of the year, 2019 World Car Design of the year and 2019 World Green Car. Now, that’s seriously impressive!
