Frequently asked questions

Below are some of the most commonly asked questions posed by our clients. However, should your query not be covered here, please do not hesitate to call our team on 01634 914 063 or e-mail us at mail@evisionevs.co.uk and a member of staff will be happy to assist you.

CAN I SET UP AN ACCOUNT?

We are more than happy to set up business accounts subject to the usual credit checks and your acceptance of our standard Account Terms & Conditions. Please telephone or e-mail us for an application form and a copy of our Account & Hire T&Cs.

WHAT TIME OF THE DAY CAN I COLLECT / DROP OFF THE CAR?

EVision’s standard opening hours are as follows:
Mon – Fri: 0800 – 1800 hrs.
Saturday: 0800 – 1300 hrs.
Sunday and bank holidays: Closed.

If you would like to collect/drop off a car outside of these hours there will be a £20+VAT charge.

Any hires made through EVision are based on a 24 hour period. If you’re unsure of times, or would like to enquire about hire times prior to booking, please give the team a call on 01634 914063.

WILL I INCUR A LATE RETURN PENALTY IF THE CAR IS RETURNED LATE?

Unfortunately we would be required to charge a late return fee if a vehicle is returned after the stated time of the hire.

You will need to calculate and plan your charging route with as much care as you plan your road route before you set off. Chargers may be broken or not in use, and you could find yourself trapped or stuck with a slow charger and not be able to get the car back within the hire period and incur the late return penalty.

We always recommend choosing a charging area where there is more than one charging venue, so you have 2 additional places to try. Familiarise yourself with the ZapMap app a few days before you travel. It will take time to understand the meaning and significance of the icons and their relationship to the car you hire and your journey.

DO YOU ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS?

We accept all major credit cards underwritten by MasterCard and Visa, but with apologies we do not take American Express or Diners Club cards.

IS THERE A MILEAGE LIMIT?

*All Hires: Fair Usage Policy applies. See Terms & Conditions.

Electric vehicle hires for less than 12 months benefit from 150 miles usage per day.

Rentals of 12 months + are subject to 10,000 miles per annum / pro rata.

ARE THERE ANY OTHER CHARGES IN ADDITION TO EVISION ELECTRIC VEHICLES BASIC SELF-DRIVE HIRE RATES?

As indicated on the Self-Drive page, our hire charges exclude VAT and insurance (where applicable). You also have the option of paying an additional premium to reduce the insurance excess. There will be a charge for us to deliver &/or collect your hire vehicle if you cannot collect or return your EV.

Other charges may apply if you have any special requirements but these are discretionary and, wherever possible, we shall do our utmost either to waive these or keep them to an absolute minimum.

A tyre damage waiver of £4.00 per day (non Vatable) and screen damage waiver of £4.00 per day (non Vatable) will occur, should the cars be returned with any of the above.

Should a customer wish to cancel their hire, we are happy to accommodate this prior to the booking day, however there is a cancellation fee of £40 that will be applied.

HOW LONG DO I NEED TO HAVE HELD MY DRIVING LICENCE?

5 years if hiring a Tesla, Jaguar I-Pace, Porsche Taycan, Audi e-tron, Polestar 2, Mercedes EQC and EQV or any of our electric vans including the Vauxhall Vivaro-e and Renault Kangoo.

HOW MUCH DEPOSIT WILL I NEED TO PAY?

We require a £2000 refundable damage deposit prior to any hire using our EVision insurance. The deposit will be returned within seven working days after the hire is complete. This is subject to the car being returned in a satisfactory condition.

We only require a £500 refundable deposit in the event that your own insurance is being used. Again, this is subject to the car being returned in a satisfactory condition.

I HAVE PENALTY POINTS ON MY DRIVING LICENCE. CAN I STILL SELF-DRIVE HIRE AN EV FROM EVISION ELECTRIC VEHICLES?

It may be possible, depending upon how many points you have and what you accrued them for. Please call our team and we will do our level best to find a way to accommodate you.

HOW OLD DO I NEED TO BE TO SELF-DRIVE HIRE A CAR FROM EVISION ELECTRIC VEHICLES?

I AM A DRIVER BETWEEN THE AGE OF 25 AND 30, CAN I HIRE A TESLA / I-PACE / E-TRON / PORSCHE TAYCAN?

The answer is yes, provided you have all of the following:

  • You have your own insurance and include EVision on the policy as the car owner, and:
  • You provide us with a £500 deposit, refundable when the vehicle is properly returned, and:
  • You have no more than 6 points on your licence.
  • Must have held a driving licence for 5 years or more (anyone of any age can drive it, the car will just need to be insured by the driver).

If you are not able to provide details for all of the above, unfortunately you will be unable to hire the car from EVision.

CAN I EXTEND MY SELF-DRIVE HIRE TERM?

We usually keep a couple of vehicles in reserve to cover this eventuality, to avoid disappointing our other clients.

In the event that you should need to extend your hire, or find yourself unable to return your EV when due, please contact our team as soon as possible by calling the number given above or by emailing us.

Please also be aware that this may incur additional charges.

CAN I PARK MY OWN CAR AT YOUR OFFICES?

Yes you may. Please note, however, that you leave your vehicle at our premises at your own risk and we cannot accept any responsibility for its safe-keeping; nor can we accept liability for any damage it may sustain whilst left in our car park.

WHAT DOCUMENTS DO I NEED FOR HIRING AN ELECTRIC VEHICLE FROM EVISION?

When hiring a car from EVision Electric Vehicles, we will require 3 things from you:

  1. 2 letters showing your full name and full address i.e. utility bill / bank statement
  2. Your vehicle licence check code, generated via the DVLA website
  3. A photocopy of your driving licence

I DO NOT HAVE A BRITISH DRIVING LICENCE, WHAT DO I DO?

If you do not hold a British Driving License, then you would need to send us a photocopy of the front and back of your driving licence initially. We would then get this checked over with our own insurance company to ensure you can indeed hire the vehicle. We would let you know as soon as we have heard back from the insurance company.

I WANT TO HIRE A CAR AND TAKE IT ABROAD, IS THIS POSSIBLE?

Initially, we would have to carry out some standard procedure checks. If approved, please kindly note there may be an additional cost on the insurance if you are taking the electric car outside of the UK.

WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY DEPOSIT?

Upon satisfactory return of our vehicle, customers will receive their deposit back within 7 – 10 working days.

approved, please kindly note there may be an additional cost on the insurance if you are taking the electric car outside of the UK.

WHAT IS YOUR COVID-19 POLICY?

DRIVE SAFE, CLEAN AND GO GREEN

Our team is supporting all Electric Vehicle rental and delivery requirements. EVision are ready and available, from all of our locations across the UK, for those seeking to avoid public transport and minimize the risk of exposure to others but instead travel safe and protected.

Extra measures are in place which includes the sanitisation of our vehicles and contactless online bookings & payments.

As people refrain from using public transport and instead use other means, clients can be safe in the knowledge that using an electric car is less likely to cause the spread of the virus, and also assist in helping to reduce one’s carbon footprint.

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced us to reconsider and question what we had accepted as normal. There have been many negatives, but one significant positive has been the cleaner air in our cities resulting from forced lock-downs and travel restrictions. At EVision, we’ve always known that emission free driving is the future and now we hope that more and more people, having seen the benefits, can try it for themselves and make the switch.
