On the road, the BYD Atto 3 offers a balance of comfort and performance. Its 150 kW motor produces the equivalent of 201 bhp, delivering 0–62 mph in a brisk 7.3 seconds. The power delivery is smooth and immediate, a hallmark of electric driving, and makes city traffic or motorway merging effortless.
The suspension is tuned for comfort, soaking up bumps and imperfections in the road with ease. While it is not set up as a sporty SUV, the steering is light and accurate, making it easy to manoeuvre in urban settings. At higher speeds, the cabin remains refined, with only a little wind noise around the mirrors.
Battery and Range
At the heart of the BYD Atto 3 lies the company’s unique Blade Battery, a lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) pack renowned for safety and longevity. Unlike many conventional batteries, it has undergone extreme testing, including nail penetration, without catching fire, a testament to its durability.
In everyday use, the Atto 3 delivers up to 260 miles on the WLTP cycle. This is more than enough for daily commutes, school runs, and weekend journeys. The efficiency of the e-Platform 3.0 helps maximise the range while ensuring stable performance in varying conditions.
Charging Made Easy
Charging the BYD Atto 3 is straightforward. At home or at public AC points, it supports up to 7 kW as standard or 11 kW on higher specifications. On longer journeys, rapid DC charging replenishes the battery from 30% to 80% in around half an hour, making it easy to top up during a short break.
The charging port is conveniently placed, and the car provides clear information through its display screens, ensuring drivers always know the charging status and estimated times.
Safety First
Safety is central to the BYD Atto 3’s design. Alongside the strong Blade Battery, the SUV scored a full five stars in Euro NCAP testing. Its structure and active safety systems provide reassurance for drivers and passengers alike.
Features such as collision warning, lane departure alerts, and emergency braking assist are all standard. Combined with the stability offered by the e-Platform 3.0, the Atto 3 feels secure in all conditions.
Everyday Usability
Beyond the specifications, the Atto 3 simply works well as an everyday car.
