Anyone that came by our stand at the Everything Electric Show London would have noticed the Mercedes EQS that we had on display. This incredible electric car took centre stage and was a real star attraction. Fans of Mercedes would certainly have popped by as we were, surprisingly, the only people showcasing vehicles from this awesome German legacy manufacturer. But what is it that makes the Mercedes EQS really stand out from the crowd? Well, there are many reasons. I hope to cover many of them in this blog.
Luxury on a New Level
It almost goes without saying that Mercedes are amongst the great kings of automotive luxury. However, with the electric Mercedes EQS, it seems like they have really pushed the boat out.
From the outside you can see that this is a high quality saloon vehicle. This is something Mercedes are known for and it is something they do very well. The stunning lines and perfectly curved edges really draw you in and make you want to see more. There is a long front leading to an expansive windscreen, angled perfectly for reducing wind resistance. Everything has been designed with purpose, and it is genius.
Stepping into the car you are greeted by a design language that can only be thought up by a team with decades of experience in producing the very best in automotive luxury. It is pure artistry. Once you sit in the front seats you may not want to leave. The materials are of premium quality and the headrest is the closest you will come to laying your head against a cloud. And if this is not enough, you can also enjoy a massage! Be careful though, once this EV has you hooked, you may need to have your mail forwarded to the EQS cabin. As well as comfort, there is also a copious amount of space. This too applies to the boot area. “Generous” does not go far enough to describe it.
The Mercedes EQS is a Technological Marvel
Electric vehicles are known for their great technology. However, you’ll need to hold onto your hat when you see what the Mercedes EQS has in store. Whether you have the version with the Hyperscreen (as seen at the London show), or you go for the one without it, you will be sure to find a level of technology that will leave you stunned.
Let’s focus on the Hyperscreen version: Visually striking, effortlessly intuitive, and remarkably intelligent, the MBUX Hyperscreen is a standout feature in the EQS. It represents the emotional intelligence of this all-electric luxury saloon. Spanning almost the entire width from the left to the right A-pillar, the elegantly curved display creates a futuristic presence that’s impossible to overlook. Beyond its impressive scale, the meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail deliver a genuine “wow” factor, combining high-end aesthetics with state-of-the-art technology.
But the MBUX Hyperscreen is more than just a visual statement. Driven by adaptive artificial intelligence, it learns from its user and offers personalised suggestions across infotainment, comfort, and vehicle functions. Thanks to the innovative zero-layer concept, there’s no need to scroll through submenus or issue voice commands, the most relevant functions are surfaced contextually, exactly when needed. This intelligent interface simplifies the experience for the driver, and not just the driver: the front passenger also benefits from their own dedicated display and control area.
A Staggering Mercedes EQS Performance
Of course, when you have an electric car that looks great and has technology to blow your mind, you would expect the vehicle to be able to perform on the road. Well, don’t worry, this EV has more than enough performance to satisfy your every whim.
Starting off with the range, as this is what really hits people the most (in a good way). According to the manufacturer, the WLTP range is purported to be 453 miles. Of course, we like to give you the real world version. After all, you are real people who need to know the practical information. In fact, the real world range is no less impressive than the WLTP version. You can easily achieve 400 miles (depending on the usual things such as weather, driving conditions, driving style etc). Drive north from EVision’s head office and you can reach Scotland before you need to charge. That’s absolutely spectacular!
To throw some more figures at you, this EV can achieve 0-62 mph in 5.5 seconds. It has a top speed of 130 mph, and it can charge from 15% to 80% in just 32 minutes using an ultra-rapid charger. These stats alone are pretty incredible.
