Electric people carriers are perfect vehicles for those who need more seating than usual. We are at the end of May 2024, and you are possibly already planning your summer holiday. Whether that is with family or friends, it is not uncommon for larger groups to get together for a big get-away.
In this blog post we will discuss some of the amazing electric people carriers we have on our fleet, and will be telling you what makes each one such a wonderful vehicle. The biggest problem you will have is choosing which one to hire.
Tesla Model X 90D – Cars Can Be People Carriers Too
Most people will be familiar with the Tesla Model X by now. Many have admired the unique gull-wing doors and the whole Tesla experience. This is a big car that has fantastic styling. And, of course, you get the legendary Tesla infotainment system which is packed full of fun and useful applications.
Taking a closer look in the cabin you will see that there are 7 seats available over three rows. The furniture is also very comfortable for long drives too.
Powering the Tesla Model X 90D is a 90kWh battery and dual motors. This gives you a real world range of around 255 miles, which is fantastic for longer journeys. The acceleration is also pretty impressive. Hitting 0-60 mph in just 5 seconds in a people carrier is phenomenal.
Mercedes eVito – Premium Luxury
If luxury is something you are looking for in a people carrier, then the Mercedes eVito could be the perfect vehicle for you. Capable of carrying 9 people, plus giving you a lot of luggage space, this vehicle is capable of giving the occupants a comfortable ride in a luxurious environment.
There is a real world range of around 190 miles available on the eVito. This is a little less than the Tesla Model X 90D, however, this is a much bigger vehicle. There is no need to panic though, as the Mercedes eVito also has a fantastic rapid charging capability. With a charging speed of up to 110kW, you can charge from 15-80% in 45 minutes. Perfect time for a well deserved break and a cup of coffee on the road.
Mercedes EQB
There are a few Mercedes electric people carriers. They have certainly tapped into a valuable market. The Mercedes EQB, like the Tesla Model X, looks more like a big SUV rather than what we would picture a people carrier being. This is another fabulous entry from the experienced German manufacturer. As always, luxury and performance go hand-in-hand. With 7 seats and a large boot area, this is a vehicle with a lot going for it.
Performance-wise, the Mercedes EQB is pretty impressive. You will get a real world range of around 210 miles, plus the 150kW charging speed will get you from 15-80% in just 29 minutes with an ultra rapid charger.
Vauxhall Vivaro-e Double Cab
In the words of Monty Python, and now for something completely different. When you think of the Vauxhall Vivaro-e, you may be thinking about the classic panel van work vehicle. This would be a fair thought. However, in the double cab version you get an extra row of seats, allowing up to 6 people in the cabin. Plus you also get a huge amount of space in the cargo area. What this vehicle lacks in luxury, it more than makes up for in practicality.
Looking at the vehicle’s performance, you get a real world range of around 175 miles. Although a little less than previously mentioned vehicles, the Vauxhall Vivaro-e double cab has a phenomenal ultra rapid charging speed. You can get from 15-80% in just 20 minutes. Therefore you won’t be off the road for long between locations.
