At EVision Electric Vehicles, we obviously think that electric vehicles are the best thing since sliced bread. That’s why we think everyone should make hiring an electric vehicle their new year’s resolution in 2024. Of course, we know some of you might need a little persuading, so here are just a few reasons you should make the switch to electric this year!
So Much Choice!
In 2024, we will have more range and choice of electric cars than ever before. There are so many exciting new releases lined up, with so many car manufacturers dropping electric models. We’re expecting to see remakes of classic ICE vehicles, such as the Citroen e-C3, the Fiat Panda and the Dacia Sandero, as well as some luxury EVs.
Becoming More Affordable
As driving an electric vehicle is becoming more mainstream, the price tag attached to the models is becoming more affordable. Obviously, this is to incentivise the purchase or hire of an electric vehicle in preparation for the 2035 ban on combustion engines.
On top of this, running costs of EVs are falling, so long as your energy bill hasn’t increased exponentially due to the cost of living crisis. Once you consider that the maintenance and servicing of an electric vehicle is significantly cheaper, due to the lack of moving parts, investing in an EV becomes a no-brainer affordability wise.
More Charging Options than Ever
The installation of public electric charging points in the UK has increased exponentially since 2022. As of October 2022, we had just 30,000 charging points publicly available in the UK.
This has increased by 20,000 in just 12 months, and ZapMap Insights predicts that we should reach 100,000 available chargers by August 2025. Additionally, new buildings in the UK are now required to have an electric charging point installed. This applies to both residential and commercial properties, as well as to renovations on any car park with over 10 spaces.
Fantastic Benefits
In 2024, there are so many positive reasons to make the switch and start driving an electric vehicle. Aside from the obvious environmental factors, you can also benefit from tax reductions. If you purchase an EV that is under £40,000, you won’t pay any road tax on the vehicle.
If you opt for a more expensive model, you will pay £340 per month, until the vehicle is 5 years old. At the moment, electric vehicles are also exempt from the London Congestion Charge and Ultra Low Emission Zone charges until December 2025. Electric vehicles also benefit from free entry to Clean Air Zones around the country, avoiding charges of up to £50 per day in some areas.

2024 is the year to make an investment in an electric vehicle.
