The Fully Charged Show Live – A Look Back

EVision team with a white Tesla Model X

The Fully Charged Show Live returns to UK shores once again from the 28th of April 2023 and we cannot wait. EVision has been involved in every single one of the Fully Charged Show Live events and we have seen some pretty amazing vehicles (as well as plenty of other great innovations).

Here I will have a look back at some of the vehicles we have seen. Many of which you will find on the EVision fleet.

The One Where it all Began

The inaugural event took place in 2018 at the Silverstone Circuit and it proved to be an instant smash hit success. This two day event was expected to be popular, but not even the organisers expected anything like the number of people who showed up over the weekend. Yes, it was a surprise, but it was also a magical sight to behold. So many people were passionate about electric vehicles and green energy. It truly was a joy to be a part of that.

EVision had teams both inside and outside at the event. Cars that we had on display included the Tesla Model X and the BMW i3 and all proved to be popular. Others in attendance included manufacturers such as Tesla as well as representatives from ZapMap, Octopus energy and more.

The big debut highlight of the show was probably the Jaguar I-Pace. This car certainly got a lot of attention, and deservedly so. It is still such an incredible car to drive. EVision would be the first people in Kent to receive the car later that same year.

A Year On – The Show Expands

After the overwhelming success of the event in 2018, it was perhaps no surprise that the Fully Charged Show Live 2019 would be expanded to a 3 day weekend. Again, this event far exceeded everyone’s expectations and the weekend pulled in a crowd of over 10,000 people. Wowzers! These electric cars seem to be rather popular, you know.

There were some familiar features from the previous show, including the Tesla Owners Club and others transporting the visitors from the car park area to the event itself in a majestic stream of smokeless electric cars. That in itself was fantastic to see. There were test drives and plenty of innovation on display, as well as a bigger presence of green energy companies in attendance.

Of course, EVision Electric Vehicles were there as well, along with our enthusiastic team and some of our great vehicles. In attendance that year we had the Audi eTron 55 Quattro, the Jaguar I-Pace, a Tesla Model S and a BMW i3. Once again we were rushed off our feet by an admiring crown of EV enthusiasts. We absolutely loved every second of it.

The biggest crowd pleasers of the 2019 event were the newly released Tesla Model 3, which would go on to dominate the world’s car markets, and the Peugeot e208. Both of which are great electric vehicles.

2021 – A Year of Changes

There was no event in 2020 due to the global pandemic. However, Robert Llewelyn and the team were determined not to let the crowds down in 2021. With plenty of social distancing and other health measures in place, the Fully Charged Show Live was back! This time, however, it had a brand new home in Farnborough and the event would take place almost entirely outside.

The EVision team was once again out in force with a real mix of electric vehicles. We had on display the Vauxhall Vivaro-e, the Jaguar I-Pace (popular as always), and the BMW i3. We also had our Kia e-Niro lurking about close by. It was a very busy and greatly entertaining weekend. The crowds this year had swelled to over 16,000 people.

Noticeable Changes

The 2021 event had many noticeable changes. Although the vehicles took centre stage as usual, there was also a huge focus on other areas of green energy. More charge point manufacturers, more solar power companies, wall boxes for powering homes and much more. Robert Llewelyn was really showing the best of the world of green energy and it was enthralling to see.

There were three stand out electric car stars at the 2021 event. These being the Ford Mustang Mach-e, the Polestar 2 and the incredibly futuristic Hyundai Ioniq 5. Crowds swamped all of these vehicles over the weekend and it was easy to see why. Luckily for us, EVision’s stand was right next to these vehicles, so we got to have a really good close up look at them over the three days.

Looking Ahead

EVision will be involved once again when the UK leg of the Fully Charged Show Live tour (it’s gone global you know), kicks off in earnest. The 2023 event will be held once again at Farnborough after hugely successful 2021 and 2022 events. To find out what we are taking you will have to read our next blog post.

We are expecting to see a wealth of great new electric vehicles in attendance as well as huge representation from the other areas of the green energy sector. This year will be a stepping stone towards next years’ rebrand of the events as “Everything Electric”.

Will you be at the event in Farnborough from the 28th to the 30th of April 2023? If so, come and say hello to us and see what we have brought to wow the crowds this time. We cannot wait.
