Ready to be Cupra Born Again

The Cupra Born has finally arrived at EVision Electric Vehicles and we are absolutely delighted. We have been saying for some time that we were really looking forward to receiving the Cupra Born, as have some of you.

It doesn’t take long to see why the Cupra Born is one of the most highly anticipated electric cars for some time. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Cupra Born, and for those of you who want a little refresher, here is why we absolutely love this fantastic vehicle from the relatively new manufacturer.

Looks Aren’t Everything – But Even If They Were

To start off with, I am going to be superficial and look at the Cupra Born from the outside. And, believe me, it’s not a bad place to be at all. The Cupra Born looks absolutely stunning. Yes, there are some similarities to the Volkswagen ID.3 in profile (which I will get to in a bit) but there is no doubt that the Cupra Born is something a bit special.

Although similar to its Volkswagen sibling, the Cupra Born looks like it has some serious attitude. The lines are sharper and features are more aggressive… in a good way. Everything on the Cupra Born is saying “look at me. I’m here for some seriously fun driving”.

The Bare Bones of the Cupra Born

Although the exterior of the Cupra Born is pure styling and Spanish chic, the bones of the vehicle are unashamedly German. And though it may seem a bit of a cliché to say that the Germans are super efficient, when it comes to the German automakers, this is entirely true. Germany has a long history of making cars and they do it very well. Electric cars are certainly no exception to the rule.

As stated before, the Cupra Born has some similarities in shape to the Volkswagen ID.3. This is no coincidence at all. In fact, the drivetrain is the same MEB platform drivetrain that is found on the Volkswagen electric car. Volkswagen makes a really good drivetrain for the new generation of vehicles, so it was a bit of a no-brainer to use that technology. German knowhow combined with Spanish styling is a match made in heaven.

A Hatchback With A Big Performance

Okay, so the Cupra Born may be in the small car classification. However, this small car can do the business on the road. There are a couple of different battery sizes available, however, I will be looking at the 58kWh battery version that we have available for hire from EVision Electric Vehicles right now.

Our 2WD Cupra will see you with 222 miles of real world range. Not bad by any standards. It is more than enough for you to do longer distances with confidence should you wish to do so. The maximum speed is a respectable 99mph, but the 0-60mph time is a superb 7.3 seconds. You will also feel a proper kick when you accelerate. This is a car with power!

Cupra Born, From Outside to Inside

The interior is equally as impressive as the outside of the car. Everything about the front of the vehicle is clean. By this I don’t mean that someone has washed it (which we would), I mean that it isn’t cluttered up with hundreds of buttons and other ornamental features. The stripped back styling is something that has become very popular in electric cars recently. This is a good thing. You don’t need so much there.

The details in the cabin of the Cupra Born show off that Spanish style once again. The flashes of burnt orange, including the badge, really pop out and grab your attention without being overbearing. Even the design of the seats exudes a lovely chicness to them that is pleasing to the eye without it trying too hard. Well done Cupra. It’s a big thumbs up from me.

The infotainment system may also look very familiar. Again, this is something that has come across from the Volkswagen ID.3. It is the Germans who are one of the masters when it comes to tech, so it makes sense for them to take care of that part. The infotainment system worked well in the ID cars, so why change it?

Some Final Thoughts

I think it is clear that the legacy car makers are losing their grip on the car market. Several new names have already popped up and many more will follow them in the next few years (particularly from China).

Cupra came out of nowhere and they have really delivered. The Cupra Born isn’t just a car that looks good. It is good!. Everyone at EVision is excited to get the Cupra Born in and we cannot wait for you to take them out on the road. This is a car we are very proud to offer to our customers and we are sure that you will be as delighted with this electric vehicle as we are.
