With the Government’s decision to ban the sale of all new petrol and diesel vehicles from 2030, the race is on for manufacturers to deliver a range of battery-powered alternatives. Ford has previously been slow off the mark with only plug-in hybrid vehicles available until this point. The Mustang Mach-E has certainly caused a lot of commotion with its entrance to the UK market, and will be the brands first pure-electric vehicle. You can now rent a Ford Mustang Mach-E from EVision Electric Vehicles!
About the Ford Mustang Mach-E
Nowadays, all-electric vehicles are able to meet the needs of drivers with large ranges and plenty of style, and the Mach-E is no different! First on the to-do list for the Mustang Mach-E is to persuade customers away from a rapidly growing list of rivals.
The Tesla Model 3 is pretty established as a brilliant all-electric choice, but the Kia EV6 and Volkswagen ID.4 certainly offer more affordable options. At the moment, the Ford Mustang Mach-E has a starting price of around £42,500, which is pretty pricey. Especially because the Model 3s starting price is only £2,500 more.
There are a couple of different options when purchasing the Ford Mustang Mach-E. First, the models are split into rear or all-wheel drive options, both of which offer Standard and Extended Range setups. Looking at the rear-wheel Standard model, drivers can expect roughly 248 miles of range using the 70kWh battery. Meanwhile, the Extended Range rear-wheel drive model gives drivers a huge 379 miles of range.
Drivers opting for one of the all-wheel drive models can enjoy 273 miles on the Standard model. Whereas, the Extended Range all-wheel drive model offers 336 miles! This is the model we have opted for at EVision!
Not only does this model have a brilliant range, but it also has the best charging capabilities out of the bunch. We highly value fast and efficient charging here at EVision, so this was one of the biggest selling points for us. The AWD Extended Range model is capable of 150kW charging, compared to 115kW for all other models.
When you’re charging at home, you can expect all models to be fully charged in around 11 hours, using a 7kW outlet.
Performance and drive
The Mustang Mach-E has a lot to live up to. Not only is it Ford’s first EV, but it’s also set to embrace the Mustang name, power and drive – but without an engine?! There’s been plenty of controversy over whether the Mach-E would live up to its speed, power-hungry siblings. We think it does pretty well.
There’s certainly enough power to keep you firmly pressed in your seat. The Mach-E is one of the rare gems that is able to cover ground quickly, without compromising on refinement or comfort. Our Ford Mustang Mach-E model can reach 0-62mph in just 5.8 seconds and has a top speed of 112mph.
Ford has included three driving modes for the Mustang Mach-E. The first is Active, which is the default setting. This is followed by the eco-conscious Whisper mode and Untamed which prioritises performance. While all of the modes will modify the vehicle’s throttle and steering responses, the Untamed mode actually adds a fake V8 engine sound to the cabin. (We’re not sure how we feel about that!)
And, we’re not the only ones who think the Mach-E gives more than enough! It was recently dubbed Top Gear’s Best Electric Crossover – now that’s impressive!
Design, interior and technology!
We know, all electric cars are subjective, but we’re definitely enjoying how the Mach-E looks – inside and out! In an attempt to look more luxurious, Ford has decided to move away from their famous blue oval badge for this car and stick with the running pony badge of its muscle car sibling. We personally think that’s a great choice!
Ford’s innovative thinking extends to the cars infotainment systems, in which there’s a really good level. All models come with a 15.5-inch portrait touchscreen at the centre of the dash. These are fitted with the latest generation of Ford Sync which gives the touchscreen sharp graphics and makes it easy to use.
There’s also some other creature comforts including heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, adaptive cruise control and front and rear parking sensors. Further up the price list, the Extended Range and First Edition models are more luxurious. With upgraded upholstery, electrically-adjustable front seats, a Bang and Olufsen sound system and glass panoramic roof.
