Are you looking for the perfect electric vehicle for you? In 2022 there are dozens of different all-electric models available on the UK market. While we’re loving this new range of electric vehicles, it can make it tricky for those looking to buy or hire an electric vehicle.
Here at EVision Electric Vehicles, we’re dedicated to promoting the switch to pure electric vehicles. Firstly, because they’re miles better for the environment. But, importantly, they’re also great fun to drive!
While it can be expensive to buy an electric vehicle outright, it can be much more affordable to hire an electric vehicle! Especially, because most leasing companies will cover your maintenance, servicing and any wear and tear costs. Or at least at EVision we do!
Today, we’re going to run through some of our favourite EV manufacturers and models to show you what’s on offer! Hopefully, this will help you make your decision to hire an electric vehicle and which one to choose.
Kia
The Kia-Hyundai group have been equally as successful in their approaches to the electric vehicle world. Kia now has three fully electric models, as well as a handful of plug-in hybrid models. As a manufacturer, Kia has dedicated a lot of time to pure electric vehicles and are committed to producing all-electric versions of their conventional models (and some extras).
Now one of the very best electric vehicles on the market, the Kia e-Niro was the first all-electric model from the brand. The e-Niro has pretty much everything you could ask for when looking for a practical, family electric vehicle.
It isn’t showy, like the Tesla models, but it works brilliantly. There’s plenty of room for passengers as well as a large boot space. With 250 miles of range, the e-Niro doesn’t have any limits. Plus, there’s adaptive cruise control, a reversing camera and a host of safety features as standard. What more could you ask for?
If you do want more, Kia’s second adventure may be to your liking. The fantastic EV6 offers a sportier design and drive to an all-electric family car. It’s reliable 300+ mile range, fast charging capabilities and brilliant standard equipment makes the EV6 one of the best in the business. Plus, it looks fantastic.
The final electric car from Kia is the Soul EV, an all-electric version of their classic Soul model. It has the classic, eye-catching squared off shape and is pretty similar to its conventional counterpart. The Kia Soul EV has a range of roughly 280 miles as well as exceptionally low running costs.
We love everything Kia is doing at the moment, but which one would you choose? The practical e-Niro, sporty EV6 or funky Soul EV? You can hire any one of them from EVision Electric Vehicles today!
Volkswagen
The Volkswagen ID.3 is the first model from the German brands ID-badged pure electric range. With the Volkswagen ID.4 following quickly after and the ID.5 due to arrive in 2022. Unfortunately, Volkswagen, along with many other manufacturers, have been struggling to keep up with the demand due to a shortage of semiconductor chips.
As a result, Volkswagen have now limited their orders to just the ID.3 Pro Performance Life model, meaning the ID.3 Tour and ID.3 Pure Performance are currently unavailable. It’s fair to say that the Volkswagen Golf has been the manufacturer’s flagship vehicle for years, but with the ban of petrol and diesel vehicles looming, the ID.3 had a lot to live up to.
So, has the ID.3 succeeded? We certainly think so! With a generous amount of standard technology, great passenger space and a brilliant range of roughly 260 miles, the ID.3 is an ideal electric vehicle for individuals, couples and growing families.
Meanwhile, the ID.4 offers more space while remaining modern and minimalistic throughout. The ID.4 was actually one of the first electric SUVs to hit the market at a somewhat affordable price, competing mainly with the Tesla Model 3 and Kia e-Niro.
The 10-inch infotainment is easy and practical to use. While the predicted range of 306 miles is perfect for families and those who need to travel further. There’s also some great safety technology as standard, including lane-keeping steering assist and blind-spot monitoring.
Plus, the Volkswagen ID.4 is actually one of the only EVs to be declared as carbon neutral when it leaves the factory. This means that, providing drivers charge the ID.4 with green, renewable energy, the car will actually have a clean carbon footprint for its whole lifetime.
Polestar
Polestar is the all-electric brand people have often not heard of, mainly because they only produce electric vehicles. That’s right, no petrol, no diesel and no hybrids. In fact, the Swedish and Chinese manufacturing partnership only has one model on the market at the moment, the Polestar 2.
The brand’s close relationship with Volvo is made clear as soon as you see the Polestar 2. It’s chunky design is offset with cool, minimalist, Scandinavian touches. It’s a luxury electric car and a brilliant rival to any Tesla model. Priced at just under £40,000 it’s a lot more affordable than a Tesla too!
But does it stack up to the hype? Yes, yes and yes. We LOVE the Polestar 2! There’s a 64kWh battery which gives drivers around 280 miles of range. Inside and out, the Polestar 2 is absolutely stunning and we’d definitely choose this electric car any day.
Vauxhall
Back to major manufacturers, Vauxhall has entered the electric vehicle market pretty well. Let’s start with their all-electric take on a Corsa, the Vauxhall Corsa-e. Unsurprisingly, this is not too different to the Corsa we all love.
If you’re looking for an electric car that doesn’t shout it to the world, then the Corsa-e could be for you. It’s subtle and smart, but certainly isn’t without it’s 5* qualities. The first being it’s claimed range of 209 miles, which is a lot for a vehicle of its size.
Inside, there’s a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system that’s sharp and easy to use. We think the Corsa-e is a brilliant electric vehicle for those who love the original Corsa models.
The next electric car from Vauxhall is the Mokka-e, another take on a conventional model. Thanks to its reasonable range of 201 miles, the Mokka-e could easily tempt regular Mokka customers over to electric motoring.
Latest models of the Mokka and Mokka-e have had a huge design change meaning it will definitely stand out from the crowd. There’s lot of different colour options for the Mokka/e but our favourite, the bright green, is only available on eco-friendly Mokka-e models.
Finally, we’re moving onto vans with the Vauxhall Vivaro-e. This is one of the best electric vans on the market by miles. For many, the range of an electric van is not just a concern, but actually a barrier to buying one. Vauxhall have addressed this with two different battery sizes; a 50kWh one which offers 143 miles, or a 75kWh one which offers 205 miles.
Here at EVision, we’ve opted for the 75kWh battery vans as they offer more flexibility for our customers. To put it shortly, the Vivaro-e has everything you’d expect in a working van. There’s no compromise!
Tesla
We couldn’t really do a blog on the best electric vehicles and leave out the biggest EV brand in the world, could we? That being said, we won’t go on forever as we know you’re probably aware of what electric cars Tesla offers.
The model we’re most excited for at the moment is the Tesla Model Y! We’ve just had a big delivery of new Tesla models, the Model Y being one of them! It’s essentially a raised SUV version of the Model 3, but not quite as big as the Model X.
Sitting in the Model Y for the first time, we were really impressed, especially with the build quality and enormous amount of space – in both the cabin and the boot. It’s certainly a comfy car, even for adults who are sitting in the back!
Combine that with a range of over 330 miles and you’re certainly winning. You can be one of the first to hire a Tesla Model Y here! Alternatively, check out our range of Models S, 3 and X.
