Do you want to switch to an electric van? If so, your best option may be to rent an electric van, rather than buying one outright! Before we get into how to rent an electric van, let’s see why you should!
EV News: Vauxhall, Citroen and Peugeot push their electric vans!
The Stellantis group, made up of manufacturers Vauxhall, Citroen and Peugeot have committed to all-electric vans in individual announcements this week. Starting with Vauxhall, who currently have an impressive range of electric vans and cars, including the Vivaro-e. Combo-e and Movano-e.
Vauxhall announced that they will be cutting the prices of the Combo-e Life and Vivaro-e Life models in order for them to qualify for the Government’s plug-in vehicle grant. This grant allows EV buyers to get a discount off of brand new low-emission vehicles.
The amount of grant the buyer receives depends on the type of low-emission vehicle they’re buying. Those purchasing vans like the Vivaro-e will receive a grant for 35% of the purchase price, up to a maximum of £5,000.
Vauxhall have also cut the prices of their leading Corsa-e and Mokka-e models by £3,000 so they’re not eligible for the same grant. Buyers looking to purchase either of these electric vehicles will be eligible for a grant of up to £1,500.
Managing Director at Vauxhall, Paul Willcox, said, “Vauxhall has set out a clear ambition to go electric only by 2028 and this is another step on this journey.” Those with existing orders of any of these Vauxhall EVs will be honoured the now lowered pricing.
Citroen and Peugeot cancel ICE vans!
Alongside their partners Vauxhall, Citroen have dedicated their support to electric motoring. Citroen has announced that petrol or diesel passenger versions of the Berlingo and SpaceTourer models will no longer be available in the UK.
Instead, Citroen will only offer the e-Berlingo Electric and e-SpaceTourer Electric as the manufacturer shifts against internal combustion engines (ICE). The French brand says the decision is not only an environmental one, but one which will benefit customers.
At the same time, Citroen has also cut the prices of both of these electric vans which will be effective from Tuesday 11th January. This pricing cut follows in Vauxhall’s footsteps as Citroen’s electric vans will now also be eligible for the plug-in grant.
Meanwhile, Peugeot have made similar announcements explaining that their MVP range, which includes the Rifter and Traveller, will be available as electric only in the UK. Peugeot have committed to offering a fully electric model across their entire range by 2024.
The move comes after the UK saw the largest year-on-year increase in electric vehicle sales in 2021. According to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), fully electric vehicles accounted for more than one in nine new cars sold in 2021, a 76% increase from 2020.
Rent an electric van from EVision!
2021 was not just the year of electric cars, but also electric vans! The UK electric van market is currently in its prime and soaring. There are now more electric vans than ever before and plenty of options when it comes to renting.
Businesses are always looking for a way to reduce their spending, particularly in a new year. What better way to do it than to scrap your costs on petrol or diesel?! Hiring an electric van, instead of a conventional internal combustion engine one, will save your pennies and the environment.
Vauxhall Vivaro-e
The Vauxhall Vivaro-e probably sounds, and looks, familiar. That’s because Vauxhall decided to revamp their original diesel engined Vivaro van and create a greener option for businesses. While the Vivaro-e looks almost identical to its predecessor, it is a completely different drive! It really does reinvent what a Vauxhall van can do.
It was actually awarded ‘International Van of the Year 2021’ by WhatCar?, but why is it such a big hit?
Firstly, the Vivaro-e has two different battery sizes. A 50kWh one which offers roughly 150 miles of range, and a 75kWh one which provides 200 miles of range. It’s actually the electric van with the longest range! Plus, thanks to Vauxhall’s handy design the battery size doesn’t compromise any precious cabin space.
When you do need to charge your Vivaro-e at home, it will take roughly seven hours depending on the battery size model. Meanwhile, charging on the go is super simple. Making use of public rapid charging stations, drivers can charge from 0% – 100% in just 20 minutes.
If you’ve already driven the standard Vauxhall Vivaro, you’ll be pleased to hear that the all-electric version offers the same amount of load space. A maximum of 1,002kg is more than enough to transport goods! Similar to it’s diesel counterpart, the Vivaro-e provides two different options – the L2 Panel van and the L2 Elite Double Cab van.
The decision to rent an electric van has never been easier than at EVision! You can rent an electric van, like the Vauxhall Vivaro-e, for just £27.22 per day. This price is based on a three year rental period. The longer you rent an electric van, the cheaper it will be!
Renault Kangoo
As much as we love Vauxhall’s range of electric vans, we have to admit that Renault have really led the way. Their earliest model of the best-selling Kangoo ZE electric van was originally released 11 years ago in 2011. Since then, several models have been produced, increasing the battery size, range and improving the look of the Kangoo.
The latest model is fitted with a 33kWh battery, which offers a generous 120 miles of range. Although this is less than in the Vivaro-e vans, it’s all about how you drive an electric van! Making use of the eco driving mode and regenerative braking, drivers should be benefitting for many more miles.
A smaller battery means for quicker charging and the Renault Kangoo is no exception! Charging at home will only take roughly 5 hours, which is perfect for those choosing to charge their EV overnight.
Despite being a smaller sized van, the Renault Kangoo can still carry over 600kg. Again, the pure electric version can carry just as much as its petrol or diesel counterparts.
