If you’re just starting your EV (electric vehicle) journey, then we would recommend opting for a car a bit less, well flashy. Especially if you’re going to rent an electric car to use everyday. It’s pretty cool doing the school run in a Tesla, but is it super practical in the long run? But, don’t worry as there’s no compromise with these beginner electric cars!
A* for BMW’s first all electric car
The BMW i3 launched back in 2013 and has been a trendsetter ever since. It’s able to travel roughly 190 miles on a single charge, depending on the model. BMW is constantly upgrading the i3 to improve it’s drive, performance and design.
It’s the only BMW model to date that was designed from the ground up, and not off of another BMW model. It’s completely unique! It’s small enough to fit into big city parking spaces, but feels spacious inside.
Design with sustainability in mind, it’s full of recycled materials as well as up-to-date technology. Once in the driver’s seat, you’re met with a large infotainment screen which is equipped with BMW’s iDrive system. Within this, you’ll be able to connect any mobile devices, check the weather or create a route using the built in navigation system.

Best small electric car for seven years!
Our second electric vehicle comes from Renault and it’s actually the most popular electric car in all of Europe! WhatCar? have named the all-electric Renault ZOE their ‘Small Electric Car’ of the year for seven years running now. If those stats don’t sell the car itself, we don’t know what will!
Renault pledged to ensure the ZOE is suitable for varied journeys, both long and short. With up to 239 miles of range, they’ve certainly done that! This is a huge increase from the minimal 80 miles provided in the original ZOE back in 2012.
After nearly 10 years, we think Renault have perfected their small electric car.

Comfortable, contemporary and convenient
Volkswagen’s ID.3 is a smaller version of their family SUV, the ID.4 – more on that model later! While it’s a smaller model, it actually has the largest range out of all of our small EVs. With 250 miles, the ID.3 is perfect for those who want an electric car that’s slightly bigger, but still cheap to run and easy to manage.
The level of standard equipment is great including LED headlights, front and rear parking sensors, climate control and heated front seats. Inside, the ID.3 has a very minimalist cabin with modern, digital technology. Pretty much everything in the ID.3 is touch sensitive and controlled by the 10-inch touchscreen.
Like the BMW i3, this electric vehicle is equipped with voice control meaning you can control the ID.3 hands free. This makes the ID.3 super convenient and easy to use. It’s an ideal choice for those looking for a small EV with high-quality features.

Daily driving with a difference
Our final small EV is a fan favourite! It’s the all-electric alternative to the car of the century, the Vauxhall Corsa. The Corsa-e brings all of our favourite features to this eco-friendly model. It can travel 185 miles before needing a charge which makes it a great car for everyday journeys.
If you’re looking to rent an electric car that doesn’t shout about it, then the Vauxhall’s Corsa-e could be the perfect choice for you. It’s very similar to the conventional Corsa. Apart from a few small ‘e’ badges, you’d struggle to pick the electric out from the gas-powered car.
That’s not a bad thing! The Corsa has been one of the most successful car models ever so introducing a sustainable friendly option is a great move by Vauxhall. It’s fitted with some great tech that isn’t overpowering. We imagine most people would jump in the Corsa-e and feel pretty at home.
When inside, you’ll find a 7-inch infotainment system that’s pretty sharp.

Electrifying e-tron
The Audi e-tron has been making history since its first launch. In 2019, the Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) presented the e-tron with their Top Safety Pick+ award, making it the first electric vehicle to earn such an award. It’s the first all-electric SUV from Audi.
Its aggressive characteristics can be spotted a mile away, making the e-tron the perfect choice. It can travel 190 miles on a single charge and while the range is smaller for its size, when you drive the e-tron you get a drive like no other. Audi claims the two electric motors quickly accelerate the SUV from 0 – 60mph in an impressive 5.7 seconds.
Dynamic and luxurious design combined with a serene ride quality places the e-tron at the top of our list for anyone looking to drive an EV with an edge. Fast and firey
The Polestar 2 gives Tesla a run for their money with it’s pure drive and acceleration. It sure is nippy, but the 0 – 60mph in only 4.7 seconds speaks for itself. You also might find some of the Polestar 2’s features familiar. That’s because of it’s close working relationship with Volvo.
The Polestar 2 comes in multiple colours, however our favourite has to be the snowy white. It looks spectacular and has some beautifully added mustard yellow features, including the brake pads. This follows through into the interior giving it a slick, modern design with a splash of colour. This EV definitely has one of the nicest interiors to date!
At the forefront, the Polestar 2 is a fastback-styled family size car with stacks of cool and minimalist design. The frameless door mirrors and panoramic glass roof only add to its style. The central 11.5-inch infotainment system is one of the best in the business, again easily giving Tesla a run for its money.
For those keen to support our environment, you’ll be happy to hear that this EV is fitted with an all vegan interior as standard. When looking to rent an electric car, the Polestar 2 should be at the top of anyone’s list. It really does tick all the boxes!

Gold stars for Volkswagen
Volkswagen’s ID.4 is an urban SUV which shows how attractive electric driving can be. Unlike other electric cars, Volkswagen have really hit the nail on the head with their all-electric models. They all look the part.
At EVision we love the ID.4, plus it comes in either bright white or honey yellow. Which one would you prefer? It somehow balances minimalism with its futuristic features perfectly. You can tell the ID.4 has been designed with all rides in mind as it offers more than enough space for passengers as well as shopping or luggage.

Heaps of tech, comfort and safety features
We’re super excited that the spectacular Vauxhall Mokka-e will be joining our EVision fleet very soon! The Mokka-e has a surprisingly large range for its 50kWh battery, allowing drivers to travel over 200 in a single journey.
In place of the dashboard, you’ll find a large driver information display which gives you a quick overview of all the information you might need. This includes your energy consumption, mileage and range.
The biggest bonus to having a smaller battery fitted is that the Mokka-e will charge a lot quicker than some EVs of its size. In turn, this will make charging and running the car a lot cheaper too! At the moment, Vauxhall state it can reach up to 80% in just 30 minutes when using a 100kW charger.
Very soon we’ll be able to give a full review of the Mokka-e SRI Nav Premium once it joins our fleet. As standard it comes with the latest tech including a 10-inch infotainment touchscreen, front and rear parking sensors and keyless entry.
