What does the Vauxhall Mokka-e offer?

Vauxhall Mokka-e is coming to EVision

We are super excited to announce that the new all-electric Vauxhall Mokka-e will be joining our fleet of ever-growing EVs! You will be able to hire the Vauxhall Mokka-e on our website  very shortly.

New additions such as the Vauxhall Mokka-e remind us that electric vehicles (EVs) are becoming increasingly popular – to a point where eventually we will drop the word ‘electric’ from conversations and just call them cars.

Instead of designing a bespoke electric SUV, like Volkswagen did with the ID.4, Vauxhall are effectively just offering an electric motor inside their small SUV. As the brand puts it, “Electric, Petrol, Diesel – Your Call”. Aside from the few ‘e’ badges on the exterior and a charging port instead of fuel cap – there isn’t a whole load of difference between the Mokka-e and the traditional Mokka.

That’s really not a bad thing at this stage in the EV world. Most people looking to switch to electric motoring will be looking at cars which are convenient, easy to use and not too different from their conventional counterparts.

We think Vauxhall have really hit the nail on the head with this model, and we cannot wait to have it join our fleet! Make sure you register your interest here to be the first to hear when it launches.

SPECS

The Vauxhall Mokka-e is fitted with a 50kWh lithium-ion battery, this is in between the size of competitors the Kia e-Niro and Hyundai Kona Electric. Having a smaller battery in an electric vehicle isn’t necessarily a negative thing – providing the range and acceleration aren’t compromised (they aren’t).

A smaller battery actually means the vehicle is likely to charge quicker than EVs with larger electric motors. Vauxhall boasts that the Mokka-e can charge up to 80% in just 30 minutes when using a 100kW charger.

Cheap off-peak energy deals mean you can charge the Vauxhall Mokka-e overnight for as low as 3p per mile. Plus, if you’re planning on using the Mokka-e as a company car you’ll only have to pay 1% Benefit-in-Kind (BiK) tax for 2021.

Performance

If your main priority is performance, then the Mokka-e does pretty well for a family-sized SUV. By no means is it a Tesla, but it competes well with electric vehicles of a similar size. The electric motor puts out a maximum 134bhp, but there are three different driving modes to choose from.

Driving in eco mode will allow you 81bhp to work with, which is more than enough for daily town traffic. This mode also increases efficiency meaning it uses less miles. When driving in normal mode, the car maintains a perfect balance of eco and sport driving styles. Whereas, driving in sport mode increases the dynamics and allows you to use the full 134bhp.

Range

Acceleration is one thing, but more importantly is how far an electric vehicle can travel before needing to recharge it. In the case of the Mokka-e, the official figures from Vauxhall state the car can travel 201 miles on a single charge.

That’s pretty good for an electric car of its size. It can travel much further than similar electric vehicles such as the Honda E, Mazda MX-30 and Mini Electric. However, the Kia e-Niro and Volkswagen ID.3 can travel further before needing a top up.

The regenerative braking system fitted in the Vauxhall Mokka-e returns most of the energy used when braking back to the battery. This energy will be stored in the battery when it can be used later as an additional charge.

INTERIOR

When behind the wheel you’re faced with a futuristic driving instrument panel which gives you a quick overview of all the key information. There’s also a 10-inch infotainment touchscreen device equipped with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto for easy smartphone connection.

The cabin is nearly finished with a flair that matches it’s exterior elegance perfectly. In the back, there’s more than enough room for three fully grown adults. The boot is slightly smaller on the Mokka-e than the traditional Vauxhall Mokka at 310 litres. However, this is more than enough to fit a couple of suitcases or a big weekly family shop.
